"NO BORDERS" activists to demonstrate at the Turkey Embassy in Rome
On May 1st, a collective of pro-refugees, "no borders" activists from all over Italy, will hold a demo in front of the Turkish Embassy in Rome to protest against the recent EU/Turkey refugee deal. The activists will be joined by the "Over the Fortress" movement, key organizers of last months' protests in Idomeni and the Brenner pass.
During the demonstration in Rome tomorrow, the activists will improvise a refugee settlement by camping in front of the embassy and demonstrate by surrounding the embassy's building to re-enact the sense of imprisonment that migrants feel when pushed back to Turkey. They will also carry life jackets and banners for their call to actions.
Organizers expect about 1000 activists from all over Italy and abroad. The protest will start at 10 GMT, with the participants walking towards the Embassy soon after.
